Long-distance move from Southbury, CT to Chester, VA

Big yikes and a sad night

It started with the movers putting all our smaller boxes into bigger boxes, at an (unbeknownst to us) $35/pop, which somehow lead to a move that cost triple our estimate. After learning on move-in day that our truck has been sitting in storage for 2 days and that they will not be delivering on the agreed upon move in date, my husband and I are now sleeping on the wood floor of our home after a day of driving 500 miles. Had it been communicated that there would be a remote possibility that our things wouldn't arrive on our move-in date, we would have taken measures to pack up our blow up mattress in our car. It became clear that the departments in this business do not talk with each other ensure the facilitation of a smooth transaction. We were told not only that they have up to 21 days to make this shipment, but that since we didn't get a phone call 24 hours prior, that we should have "assumed" it would not be arriving on our move in date. So now, my husband and my first night in our new home and new state will forever be remembered like this - left on the floor and in the dark by a company you've entrusted all your worldly possessions with. All Points Moving needs to employ a better business model that includes full transparency and interdepartmental cooperation - and more touch points with their customers.

Long-distance move from New York to Florida

Fine Move.

Company gave me a quote for an exclusive truck for my move down to Miami Beach. Eric and his team were professional and finished the loading within 8 hours. I've used movers before locally so wasn't sure how these cross country moves turn out. I didn't realise time would be an issue but they explained to me that if I used an exclusive truck they were able to expedite the delivery in florida. The Delivery went without a hitch. Well recommended.

Long-distance move from Queensbury, NY to Thomasville, NC

Move from New York to North Carolina

First of all, my things were brought in a week. I thought that was quick. This company dropped my things off. They contacted me day before and an hour before they came. Great. Two guys came in a truck and moved everything to where I wanted. Put my bed and TV together. Gave them cold water and cookies while they worked. When they were getting ready to leave, one said (very broken English), we now need tip. Honestly, I forgot. Went inside and got them $15 each. The man said this is not enough. He said they put bed and TV together. I said No. That is their service. I paid over $3000 for this. They left. Did not take half the garbage they were Supposed To. When do people demand a tip and then say that is not enough. If they work for tips and that is not enough then maybe the company needs to pay them more. Good experience until the end.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Washington DC

Move was OK but wound up costing more than was quoted.

I booked this company through Mover Nation.  I was moving for grauate school and really needed my stuff to arrive quickly becaue my apartment wouldn't be ready until a week before orientation and then after that I wouldn't be able to sit around waiting for my stuff.  All Points was able to get everything there quickly, I was only without furniture for 3 days which wasn't bad at all and way shorter than the 2-3 weeks I'd be waiting had I used a different company (and paid more).     But the 2 stars come from things that I didn't know about until it was too late.  When I booked I was told that as long as I didn't alter the list I originally gave (no extra boxes, furniture etc.) that my price would be locked in.  I wound up having a few less boxes than I inititally thought I would so it shouldn't have been a problem.  But then once the movers showed up and all my stuff was in the truck they told me that it was taking up more space than they had allotted for so they would need to charge me about $400 more than what I was origianlly quoted.  This was the day before I was supposed to move in and they already had all my stuff in the truck, what was I supposed to say?  But they only take cash or certified check, my move was on a Sunday and of course my bank was closed and I rarely have $50 cash in my wallet let alone $400.  Luckily they took one of the checks I already had and just said they would collect the difference at delivery.  Then they asked about tipping, they said it was customary to tip 10% at pickup and 5% at delivery.  Once again, I was told this after all my stuff was in the truck and not wanting anything to go "missing" it felt like I had no choice but to write a check for a $200 tip (for that personal check was fine).  I was initially expecting to pay $1300 for my move, when all was said and done it wound up being about $2100 (increase mover fee and tipping at pickup and delivery).   I also had issues with things being broken.  The two back legs on my dresser snapped off at pickup.  It was nothing a little wood glue didn't fix but still annoying.  When my things were delivered almost all of my boxes were crushed or caved in.  Luckily I decided to bring my dishes down in the car with me and the only thing that was broken was one glass jar candle, not the end of the world but still, if my dishes had been in there I probably would've had to go out and buy new ones since it looks like most of my stuff was just thrown around.   The movers themselves were very nice and got things in and out very quickly and my stuff did arrive in time for me to start orientation without having to worry about where my furniture was.  Still, the increase in cost, and how I didn't know until I couldn't do anything about it, is enough to make me think twice before using this company again.  I'll most likely be moving after I finish school and next time I'll be going with a better known, national moving company and just be prepared to spend a week or two on an air mattress.  .

Long-distance move from New Jersey to Illinois

Theft, broken items & excuses.

After reading these reviews, I feel much better about the horrendous experience I've had with them.   Tom, the dispatcher or head cheese in charge, was wonderful with the coordination of the move, but it was because I was persistent.   I learned from my friend that the team who showed up to my home in NJ came straight from a night of drinking.  In fact, a plastic bag containing 5 unopened beer bottles were left in my fridge, on top of some other stuff I had. My place had been an absolute mess - a vase with flowers that had been sitting on the window sill is missing & the flowers scattered across the floor. When I unpacked my boxes, I had the following issues: --wardrobe boxes weren't properly used so everything in my closet got wrinkled after 6 days of being in a truck --items were broken --a trinket that contained a $2 bill stuffed well into it had the cash missing by the time it arrived (and there was no way in hell it would have fallen out).   When I returned to NJ after having been away for 2 weeks for working, I found that the following items were missing & had not been packed with the move: --a set of silverware that had been a wedding gift --6 large jugs of laundry detergent in spite of the fact that I was told the movers don't move cleaning supplies --a kitchen drawer that had been picked through & among the missing items were screwdriver & measuring tape --out of 2 sets of measuring cups, the stainless steel ones were missing   And this is only a partial list. In fact, when I looked in my bathroom, they had helped themselves by opening a previously unopened box of dryer sheets.   Unfortunately, every time I've tried to get any form of accountability for this horrendous behavior, I only got excuses.   Plus, the prices kept rising every time I turned around.   What prompted me to write this review is the conversation I had with Tom to report the missing items.   He was so insensitive, had horrible listening skills & absolutely no empathy skills: --the conversation started off with him saying, "Why did you wait so long to report these missing items?" --when I tried to explain my work situation, he said, "well, you signed the form saying that you received all your items" --when I questioned him on the fact that the inventory was hard to read & that I was missing enough individual items to form a box or 2, his excuse was that the itemized bill only contained a general description of the box & not the actual content listing --when I mentioned that upon my return, even cleaning supplies & the 6 jugs of laundry detergent were missing, his excuse was that they do not move cleaning supplies, which I already knew   Finally, he told me to file a claim, but I'd been so frustrated by then that I let out a blood-curdling, banshee-like scream (which is incredibly rare for me).   Then he had the nerve to scream, "Don't raise your voice at me or else I'm going to hang up the phone."   At which point **I** hung up the phone.   Besides, as my frustration was rising, my voice was getting progressively louder & he should have had the sense to stop my frustration before it got to the point of the banshee-like scream.   The only silver lining in all this is that all of my missing items can be replaced.   I think the only good service I received was from the delivery team, who had been proactive in contacting me to schedule delivery, worked around my schedule & the availability of the freight elevators and assembled my furniture in record time.   My regret was that the move costed so much that I had no money left to give this delivery team the tip they truly deserved.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Oregon

Slow, no communication, terrible customer service.

We were given All-Points Moving as our movers through sub-contracting by Neighbors Moving. They came 2 days later than originally stated to pick up our things. They stated that the items would be on the truck to move out to Oregon from Pennsylvania within 3 days. We did not have a physical address for our new place but knew the town (less than 15,000 people in the town) so told them to ship it there and we would call when we found out the actual address. They said that would be fine.   We called when we received our address within 5 days to tell them where to meet us. They stated that the items had not been shipped and would not be loaded for another 2 weeks since they didn't have the address. We called Neighbors to complain and they passed the blame to All-Points who passed the blame to Neighbors. We called daily to find out what was taking so long to both companies, each stating that the problem was the other companies fault. Fast forward 22 days, ours items finally arrived in Oregon with an entertainment center damage and a box missing. We called to tell Neighbors, they told us to call All-Points as it happened on their watch. All-Points was e-mailed and called 4 times and only responded once the calls/e-mails became less professional and showed our frustration. Do not use Neighbors or All-Points for an out of state move as they do not communicate or return requests unless they need to get your money.

Do Not Use All Points Moving.

DO NOT USE ALL POINT MOVING. Movers arrived on July 31st, 2012 to pick items up, after items were loaded movers said cost would be more because our items were too heavy. We went from $4900.00 to $6300.00, this was with a discount applied. The original contract said it could take up to 26 days for delivery but it would be less. A second contract was created superceding the first one at the time of pick up since the cost changed with a delivery date of the 21st. I spoke to a member of mgmt who said my items would arrive on Sept 10th (items picked up on 07/31/12). On the 11th of august I called the moving company to inquire on the arrival the manager said he did not tell me items were to arrive on the 10th. I informed him the only reason I was caling on the 11th is because he told me items would arrive the 10th. He was argumentative and said "I can hold your items until the 26th". I decided not to argue with him because afterall he had our personal belongings. We waited another week and still no furniture. I left several messages with no one returning my calls. Items did arrive on the 26th and bedroon dresser was damaged along with several picture frames. After unpacking everything we discovered that we had personal items missing.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Indiana

Damage.

This was the company my move was subcontracted to. 9 items total and 2 arrived damaged. The damaged items were 50
year old solid oak furniture pieces from my childhood bedroom. Very solidly built and not so easy to damage and/or crush. The damage was obviously done by a fork truck compacting the load in the moving van. There was a 2 1/2 inch thick piece of solid oak broken in two! The standard insurance this company offers is 60 cents per pound. So my 50 year old 120 lb chest of drawers made of solid oak was only insured for $72. My home owner's insurance would've covered the rest. In the end I would not use this company ever again because all the furniture padding in the world is not going to protect your stuff from an idiot with a fork truck.

Long-distance move from Connecticut to Florida

All Points Extortion!!

I contracted with these movers a month ago after getting quite a few quotes. I singed my contract and set my moving date. A few days before the move Tom the manager called me to request a change in the moving date. He requested that they come for my things a week later than the original date I told them absolutly NOT!! My lease was ending and I was going out of state immediatly after the move. He stated that he could no longer move me on the thursday so we agreed on the Friday but the Friday morning as early as possible 9am because I had a flight and was required to clean the apartment. The night before he called again and gave me a hard luck story about a customer who had more things than they thought and told me that they could not make the move the next day till about 1p.m. My fiance spoke to them and told them that that would not work with our schedule, Tom then stated after an attitude that they would find a storage that night and offload her things so that they could make my move. The morning of the move the driver Eric called me and told me that he was still in upstate NY and would not make it to my place till 1p.m. They arrived at 1 p.m. and looked at my furniture and stated that it was "bigger" then expected and that it as nice furniture so they would have to add another $570.00 because it would take up too much space. We then called Tom the manager who told us that he was not making any money off of my move and that my move was not going to make him rich so we could find another moving company or pay the difference. He went on to say that I rented space in his truck and since they had underestimated based on thier estimate I could pay the difference or he would tell his guys to leave. To me this is called extortion. He then stated he would take off $100 and do the move for $1700 flat all included. We agreed, and the guys started to pack up my 2 bedroom apartment. 5 hours later they were still not done and we were in danger of missing our flight and the leasing office closing. That is when my fiance jumped in an move the furniture in the last room into the hallway for them and was done moving that room in 10 mins! He then took them to the garage and reviewed with them that these boxes contained my dining table, the rails for my canopy king bed, and mirror for my dresser (we had boxed them up for them). The driver assured my finace that everything would go and they would take care of it all and close the garage. We did the walk through with the leasing office and turned in the keys. As a result of the walk through we were assessed $150 because we were not able to vaccum the appartment, because the movers took so long. We then drove to NYC to catch our flight.. Which we did not!! The next morning our neighbour called my fiance and told him that our garage was open and that there were several boxes in my garage. WHAT?? I called the moving company several times the next day and got no answer. My fiance called from a different number and got an answer and talked to an office worker who stated a manger would call us. 4 hours later no call. I called again and got a hold of Tom. He told me that he had instructed the driver to leave the things in the gagage because my things were taking up too much room in his truck and he was not making any money. He went on to say that they should have charged me $2300. He also stated that I should hire another mover to come get my things from his storage facility as they were going to lose money on my move even with the $400 increase. I told him I expected my things in Florida on the agreed to date. We will see how this move turns out!! Based on Toms attitude and disrespectfulness I am guessing there will be another $500 increase in fees at the time of delivery. These movers are Extortionists!! DO NOT USE ALL POINTS MOVING, even if your life depends on it.

Allpoints Movers is Fabulous.

ALLPOINTS IS FABULOUS. Bill Curtis was very patient, understanding, and flexible when the moving date became a moving target (the move was for a elderly hoarder who didn't want to move). The movers, Jose, Mel, and Joe, were greeted with an apartment with almost all of the floor filled with boxes and no path to the furniture. We unexpectedly had to make two trips: the first to a storage unit and Good Will and the second to the new home. They were diligent in their efforts and kind and understanding and patient in their attitudes. Hard to believe under the circumstances, but the move was flawless with everything ending up where it was supposed to be. The move did take longer than the estimate, but the estimate was based on what I told Bill when I didn't know about the hoarding (and was the same time as all other movers I contacted). I give Allpoints my highest recommendation, and I will use no one but Allpoints for all future moves.
